What can your department or office get by installing a new in-vehicle GPS tracking solution in your fleet? I think our CEO Robb Woolsey explains it best in the introduction to our new 2017 GPS Solutions Buyer’s Guide.
Our hope is to inform you about the best of what in-vehicle AVL systems have to offer while solving the issues that may come along as you negotiate the waters of a new way of working. Before I founded Rural First, I had been employed with and sold several hundred GPS tracking systems for Alltel, Verizon, and Sprint. Through my experience, I became intimately familiar with all offerings becoming an expert on these systems. Over the years I began to notice trends. All systems attempted to solve the issues around managing a mobile workforce that included fuel costs, productivity, operating expenses, the bloated payroll, tedious dispatching methods, safety, theft prevention, speeding, harsh driving, idling, and more. I consistently heard two complaints from almost every customer about these GPS solutions.
1. The software was difficult to learn & use.
2. Mapping outside metropolitan areas was woefully inadequate.
2017 bu These issues took a tragic and personal turn when tragedy struck. As my dad found my mom struggling to breathe and immediately called 911. Due to these delays, the first response arrived more than 45 minutes later. It was too late. Ironically she died with the nearest EMT station just 6-minutes from my parents’ house. I set out to build a system that would enable first responders to save more lives and property, but in the process, also allow businesses to recoup profits lost to fuel, labor, and missed opportunities. The actual difference in GPS Tracking systems is no longer simply a list of features; rather it is how thoughtful they were in designing their product. As I watched each being put to use by the end customer I have come up with a must have the list that is included on the next page in this guide. This list should help determine what is best for your `needs. As CEO, I hope this guide helps you in your search and the team at Rural First is always available to answer any questions at your convenience.
